Marqueeta Curtis-Haynes CEO/Founder, Ageless Glamour Girls; Host, Ageless Glamour Girls Podcast Wife. Bonus Mom. GreatAuntie. Podcaster. Content Producer. Writer/Producer. Senior Producer. Executive Producer. People Curator. Entrepreneur, and so much more.
But first, deets on her career. Marqueeta is a multi-Emmy-award-winning broadcast news Writer/Producer, with an illustrious career spanning from the Midwest to the bustling media landscape of the country’s top market - New York City. She has a wealth of experience working for esteemed organizations such as CBS News and Bloomberg LP. But wait, there’s more.
Marqueeta has been recognized for her outstanding contributions to the industry, and has three Emmy Awards and two Emmy nominations. Additionally, her exceptional work has been acknowledged with multiple Telly Awards, further highlighting her commitment to excellence.
Marqueeta served as a Senior Producer at Black News Channel (BNC), a groundbreaking start-up based in Tallahassee, Florida. During her tenure, she played a crucial role in building and launching BNC Go, the network’s cutting-edge streaming platform.
And now – the beginning. Born in St. Louis, Missouri, Marqueeta grew up in East St. Louis, Illinois - located just across the Mississippi River from Downtown St. Louis, where she was raised in the Lutheran church. Her career journey began after graduating from Illinois State University in Normal, Illinois. She quickly secured two part-time positions, including a Production Assistant role at KMOX-TV, a then CBS-owned television station in St. Louis. Her exceptional performance during her college internship there, paved the way for that opportunity. Simultaneously, she took on the role of Reporter for a weekly newspaper, where she honed her skills as a storyteller. Her talent and dedication were undeniable, leading to a promotion – to the position of Chief Editor at the newspaper. Notably, Marqueeta made history as the first woman and African American to hold this esteemed role.
Seeking new horizons, Marqueeta ventured to the West Coast, settling in California. She initially worked at the Los Angeles Times in telephone sales before making her way back to St. Louis. There, she embraced her passion for the airwaves, taking on the roles of DJ and News Director at a Country-Western radio station. However, fate intervened when KMOX-TV/CBS called her back, inviting her to return to the TV news business as a Writer/Producer. This marked a significant turning point in her career, leading to an offer to join the CBS’s flagship station in New York City, WCBS-TV.
During her time at CBS, Marqueeta made substantial contributions, from WCBS-TV to CBS This Morning. She also played a pivotal role in the launch of BET Nightly News, a news show produced by Viacom/CBS. As Senior Producer-Editorial, she managed the show's content, showcasing her expertise in crafting engaging and informative news segments.
Marqueeta’s journey continued as she relocated to Miami after getting married. There, she took on diverse roles, including Coordinating Producer at Nightly Business Report on PBS, a Freelance Writer/Producer for a media production company, and Senior Writer/Director for a studio that produces talk-shows for Lifetime TV. Building upon her multi-faceted skill set, she founded her media company, Purple Tulip Media, LLC, where she has written and produced content for various clients and maintained her own blog as a Blogger/Content Producer. Marqueeta is also Executive Producer/Writer for the highly regarded and non-biased TV show, “Power & Politics.” The show, now on hiatus, airs on NBC 4 in Fort Myers. The show offers viewers an unbiased perspective on Florida and Southwest Florida’s most significant stories.
Outside of her illustrious career, Marqueeta is a visionary entrepreneur and CEO/Founder of Ageless Glamour Girls (AGG), a celebrated lifestyle brand that targets women 50+. Under AGG, she started and now hosts the Ageless Glamour Girls Podcast. Additionally, Marqueeta manages The Ageless Café, a vibrant community on Facebook, that serves as the “Chat Room” for AGG members.
Committed to service and community, Marqueeta is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and serves as a Board Member with the Press Club of Southwest Florida, formerly known as the Naples Press Club. She cherishes her role as a wife and stepmother, godmother, and GreatAuntie, finding joy in the balance between her personal and professional pursuits.
